ரமணியைப் பற்றி கிண்டி குரூப்பில் நான் எழுதியது:
Venkatramani. A very nice guy from Erode -who had never been to a cinema thaeter in Chennai in all those years when he was in the hostel. In 3rd block we used to pull our cots to the balcony at nights to sleep 'outdoor'. At morning 6, I would be awake on hearing a 'ding-ding-ding' noise; V.Ramani, in his clean white dhoti, would be chanting some mantras and doing "Santhia vanthanam" , (the noise was what he would make when 'ding-dinging' the spoon inside a tumbler half-filled with water). Unmindful of my weird look, he would patiently explain me about it. ’குண்டலினி சக்தி’ என்றெல்லாம் எங்களுக்கு ‘விவகாரமான’ விஷயங்களைப் பேசும் இரண்டு ஆள்களில் இவன் ஒருவன். (இன்னொருவன் ’கும்பகோணம்’ கணேசன்). ரொம்ப சாந்தமானவன். நான் குமுதத்தைத் தாண்டாத காலங்களில் எனக்கு கல்கி மற்றும் வந்தியத்தேவனை அறிமுகம் செய்தவன் இவனே.
He was one of the 2 guys that I've seen in Guindy who cried uncontrollably after having done poorly at the semester exam! 2nd year 2nd semester we all had a tough paper; when I returned to the hostel, I found V.Ramani sobbing and blaming himself for being such an irresponsible guy(!), and for being ungrateful to his uncle who financed his studies (his father was no more). When I told him that going by the efforts he took, he would probably not fail, V.Ramani wouldn't agree. He started crying more saying he had raised high such hopes about him in his friends! Sensing it was an 'opportunity', I invited him for a bet -if he would pass, he should go with me to watch a movie. Though he wwasn't in a mind for any kind of bet then, I made him agree for that bet finally.
The results came and alas! V.Ramani passed!! I got more excited than him! Being a soft-spoken guy, he was begging .... begging me to reconsider the bet. But little did he know then that Subahar could be ruthless at times! :-) I took him to Devi complex for "Nenjaththaik kiLLaathE" (Mahendran's; Suhashini's debut). That was the one & only movie VRamani watched in all those 5 years. I knew that soon after 1984 he moved to Bombay, where his elder brother was working (in Godrej?). It is only a surprise that VRamani had chosen 'business' as his profession....
சில நாட்கள் முன் வெங்கட்ரமணி அவன் பையன் விஷ்ணுவர்த்தனின் இசைக் கச்சேரி பற்றி You Tube-ல் ஏற்றியிருந்த பதிவை அனுப்பினான். ஹிந்துஸ்தானி இசையில் a,b,c,d கூடத் தெரியாவிட்டாலும் எனக்கு விஷ்ணுவர்த்தனின் பாடல் ரசிக்கும்படி இருப்பது அவன் VRamani Jr என்பதால் மட்டுமல்ல. கேளுங்கள்:
